It's
time to resign...and the company you work for wants you to stay.
What should you do?
Here
are some factors to consider about a counter-offer:
- If
this offer had been made before your resignation, would you have
accepted it and stayed?
- Are
you really happy with your job, your supervisor, and your future
with this company?
-
Is there any plan for advancement or promotion mentioned for you?
Did your supervisor explain a career ladder for you?
- What
has really changed besides money since you gave notice?
- How
does this opportunity compare to your new position?
- If
there are staff reductions in the future, do you think you'd be
asked to stay? Remember, you just volunteered to leave. Would you
still be considered a loyal staff member?
- What
about future raises or promotions? Will you have to go through this
process all over again to get what you want? Is it worth it?
Think
carefully before you make a final decision. Your future professional
growth is at stake.
